Pitch is only one gate. Verify the exact series, positions, orientation, keying, retention, contact geometry, PCB footprint, ratings, drawings and a fully mated sample.
Same pitch is a filter. It is not a compatibility approval.
CONTROL THE COMPLETE INTERFACE
A pluggable connection has two part numbers and one mating result.
The removable wire-side part and PCB header perform different jobs. Each half can have its own orientation, locking feature, drawing, contact dimensions and order suffix. Approving only one half leaves the actual connection uncontrolled.
EIGHT MATCHING CHECKS
Close every plug-side and header-side field.
Record the full plug-side model, suffix and housing form.
Confirm the exact header family and manufacturer-listed compatible part.
Use the documented contact centerline, not a housing-edge measurement.
Match the same documented centerline and verify it on the drawing.
Record the pole count and whether the contacts use one or more rows.
Require the same mating contact layout; the PCB hole count alone is not enough.

BUYER FAQ
Plug and PCB header matching questions.
Will any plug and header with the same pitch mate?
No. Equal pitch does not prove the same contact geometry, housing, keying, orientation, retention or electrical conditions. Confirm the exact compatible pair and drawings.
Do the plug and header need the same number of positions?
A normal paired interface requires the matching contact layout, including positions and rows. Some product systems also use coding or grouping rules, so pole count alone is not enough.
What is the difference between plug orientation and header orientation?
The plug description can refer to wire entry, actuator access or mating direction. The PCB header description can refer to straight or right-angle board mounting. Review the complete mated drawing rather than comparing one orientation word.
Can a latch plug mate with a header that has no latch feature?
Do not assume it can. A latch, locking screw or flange needs the corresponding mating geometry and installation clearance. Confirm both exact models.
Is successful hand mating enough for approval?
No. A sample can reveal obvious fit issues, but final approval should also cover drawings, contact engagement, retention, PCB fit, conductor termination, ratings, required documents and the production configuration.
What should be sent with a plug and header matching request?
Send both model markings, clear photos of each mating face and side, pitch, positions, PCB layout or drawing, orientation, latch/key/flange details, wire, current, voltage, quantity, target market and required documents.
