PCB CONNECTION ARCHITECTURE GUIDE

Pluggable vs PCB screw terminal blocks.

Choose between a removable plug-and-header interface and direct conductor termination on the PCB—then verify the exact model, drawing and sample.

Architecture first. Ratings and compatibility remain model-specific.

THE DECISION IS ABOUT THE INTERFACE

Neither family is universally better.

Pluggable and PCB screw terminal blocks solve different assembly and service problems. The useful question is how the field wiring should meet the PCB—not which family has the strongest generic marketing claim.

SIDE-BY-SIDE COMPARISON

Compare the interfaces that affect the PCB and field wiring.

Selection checkPluggable terminal blockPCB screw terminal block
Connection architecture

A field-wired plug mates with a separate PCB header.

The conductor terminates directly in the PCB-mounted terminal block.

Field disconnection

The wired plug can be unmated from its confirmed header as an assembly.

Each conductor is released from and re-terminated in the board-mounted block.

PCB and enclosure check

Confirm header footprint, mating direction, mated envelope, latch/flange and withdrawal access.

Confirm terminal footprint, wire-entry direction, screwdriver access and conductor bend space.

Interface management

The plug and header must be controlled as an exact compatible pair.

The PCB footprint and conductor interface must match the exact terminal model.

Wire termination

The removable plug may use screw or spring termination; pluggable describes the mating architecture.

The current YIHENTRA PCB screw family uses screw-clamp conductor termination.

Final approval

Review both halves, complete ratings, drawings, keying and a mated sample.

Review exact ratings, footprint, wire acceptance, drawing and a mounted sample.

SIX-QUESTION DECISION ROUTE

Start with service and installation constraints.

  1. 01

Must a wired connector be removable from the PCB or replaceable module?

Start with a pluggable plug-and-header architecture.

  2. 02

Will conductors normally remain terminated directly on one board?

A direct PCB screw terminal block may be the simpler architecture.

  3. 03

Is there enough room to mate, latch and withdraw a plug?

Check the complete pluggable envelope and service direction before choosing it.

  4. 04

Can a screwdriver and conductor approach the installed PCB block?

Check tool access, wire entry and bend radius for a direct screw connection.

  5. 05

Is the PCB footprint or mating system already fixed?

Treat the existing drawing and exact part pair as constraints, not search hints.

  6. 06

Are ratings, conductor range and required documents confirmed per model?

Do not decide from family-level claims; close every open value before sampling.

CURRENT YIHENTRA REFERENCES

Use real model pages to move from architecture to specification.

The current catalog lists 23 pluggable models and 14 PCB screw models. The selected references below span current pitch and mounting examples; they are not universal substitutes.

BUYER FAQ

Pluggable and PCB screw selection questions.

Is a pluggable terminal block the same as a spring terminal block?

No. Pluggable describes a removable plug-and-header mating architecture. The plug can use screw or spring conductor termination depending on the exact model.

Which carries more current: pluggable or PCB screw terminal blocks?

There is no universal family-level answer. Current and voltage ratings depend on the exact model, pitch, conductor, standard and operating conditions. Compare documented models rather than category labels.

Can a pluggable terminal and PCB screw terminal share the same footprint?

Do not assume so. Even when nominal pitch matches, pin layout, housing, board clearances, wire entry and the complete interface can differ. Verify the exact drawing and sample.

Can any plug mate with a header of the same pitch?

No. Pitch alone does not prove contact geometry, housing, orientation, keying, latch, flange or electrical compatibility. Confirm the exact plug/header pair.

What information is needed to compare both options?

Send the application, existing reference, PCB footprint, pitch, positions, mounting and wire-entry direction, conductor range, current, voltage, quantity, target market and required documents.

READY TO COMPARE THE TWO OPTIONS?
